Chat Room Etiquette: The Unwritten Rules
Every community has manners. Follow these and you'll be welcome in every IndianChat room.
Greet before you PM
Say hello in the main room before sending private messages. Messaging strangers out of the blue – especially with "hi" repeated ten times – is the fastest way to get ignored.
Don't flood
Write one complete message instead of five short ones. Avoid repeating the same line, and don't paste huge blocks of text.
CAPS LOCK = SHOUTING
Typing everything in capitals feels aggressive. Use it for a word of emphasis, not a whole sentence.
Respect "no"
If someone doesn't want to chat privately, share photos or continue a topic, accept it and move on. Pressure gets you banned.
Keep it on topic
Each room has a theme. Talk cricket in Cricket Chat, films in Bollywood Chat and mature topics only in the age-gated Adult Chat (18+).
No hate, no politics wars
India is wonderfully diverse. Jokes about religion, caste, region or gender hurt people and are not allowed.
No spam or selling
Advertising, follow-for-follow requests and links to other sites are removed. If you want to share something useful, ask a moderator first.
Use the mother tongue of the room
Language rooms like Tamil Chat or Marathi Chat are for that language (English is usually fine too). Everyone is welcome in All India Chat.
Listen to moderators
Moderators volunteer their time to keep rooms pleasant. If they ask you to change behaviour, please do. Full details are in our chat rules.
